How To Make Credit Card Collectors Stop Calling

Today more than ever people are getting caught up in debt.

More and more people are losing jobs, getting pay cuts, laid off and worse. Consumers are finding out how tough it really is and how serious credit card companies are about recovering debt.

If you are one of the people who is behind on their credit card payments you know that credit card collectors will stop at nothing to recover your debt. They want to make sure you stay focused on paying them back.

They usually start by calling you at home. If you get late or fail to make another payment after the first calls they will step up action and often start calling you almost every day. The calling will usually continue to escalate and they may begin calling you at work and after you get home from work.

At this point the calling often increases to several times a day and the consumers stress level often begins to cause more problems to the consumers health and well being. A person who in debt has enough stress to deal with. Losing a job is extremely stressful to begin with. Getting a pay cut or a lay off slip isn't a great deal better.

Compounding the stress of getting in debt with losing a job can cause more stress and often depression. These conditions often cause health issues. The government realizes this and has provided a law to protect consumers against credit card companies that won't stop calling consumers.

If you are a consumer who feels they need their credit card company to stop calling there is something you can do. It's quite simple and you have the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, [15 USC 1692c] Section 805(c) behind you. All you have to do is send a request that the credit card company stop calling you. Once they have received the request they must stop calling.

Send a letter to the collector/s calling you stating that under this act they must stop calling you. You can use this pre-written letter to copy, paste and print or you can write your own. If you chose to write feel free to use it use this as a guideline.
